Innovation Grants
The Innovation Research Grants program is in full swing again, seeking proposals from all interested parties to take advantage of USITT funding to advance design and technology research in the entertainment industry. Interested applicants should use the link to check the full guideline details and submit their application. The application deadline is Nov. 19, 2018. Review of all submitted proposals will be conducted immediately following, with Board of Directors action to award scheduled for Jan. 17, 2019.
NBS Fall Conference
A reminder that USITT NBS has scholarships for attending the national USITT Conference and Stage Expo that will be held in March 2019. Full information and application forms are available HERE. The application deadline is Oct. 15.

ESTA Publishes New Standard for Raked Stages
ANSI E1.60 – 2018, Guidelines for the Use of Raked Stages in Live Performance Environments, was approved by ANSI’s Board of Standards Review on Friday, Sept.r 21, and published on Monday, Sept. 24. It can be downloaded at no cost from the ESTA TSP website. The no-cost download is made possible by the sponsorship of ProSight Specialty Insurance. ANSI E1.60 offers guidance for the use of raked stages in live performance environments to mitigate the risks for the protection of actors and technicians. The guidance offered is fundamentally a risk assessment/risk reduction approach, with a process outlined and suggestions offered on what must, should, or might be done to control the risk.
