The Student Ambassador Program, co-sponsored by the Fellows and The International Activities Committee has selected three students to meet with three international guest presenters.
Yvonne Chang, an MFA candidate in lighting design at Virginia Tech, will be meeting with Pawel Dobryzcki; a stage, costume, and lighting designer; professor; painter; architect; and the Dean of the Scenography Faculty at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
John Mitchell, who is in his second year of his MFA in lighting design at CMU is paired with Xóchitl González Quintanilla, a lighting designer from Mexico whose work has been featured at WSD and PQ.
The third winner is Jeff Sherwood, who is studying for an MFA in sound design at Purdue. He will be spending time with Junghoon Pi, a Korean sound designer/composer and assistant professor at the Seoul Institute of the Arts.
The students and guests will meet at the International Reception on Wednesday and have a conversation at the hosted luncheon on Thursday. All members are invited to meet the students and international presenters at an open reception on Friday at the Network Nexus between 4 – 5:30 p.m.
We are particularly encouraging students interested in studying and working abroad to join us for this event. You are welcome to engage in conversation with the international guests and inquire about how to get involved in theatre in other countries.
