An end of semester movie night at UT Austin is planned to help students de-stress before finals. Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events was chosen as the movie of the night because of the gorgeous painted backdrops still in use in modern Hollywood film-making.
Head shots will be offered to chapter members Jan. 27 and 28, because the chapter believes that even designers and technicians should have them.
The UT Austin chapter will also be hosting Tech Olympics workshops to prepare their team for the competition at USITT 2017. And they are exploring the possibility of a friendly tech olympics competition between UT Austin and St. Edward’s University.
Weber State University
We are proud to welcome a new student chapter to USITT! The student chapter of Weber State University is formed and is hitting the ground running. The chapter has plans for a bright future. “After the conference in Salt Lake City last year, we were inspired to create a chapter in our school to promote education in technical theatre. We are still a small group of students, but we have big plans for the future.”
