USITT’s Gateway Program will seek applications this fall to welcome 12 new mentees into the family. This selective mentorship opportunity provides individuals in underrepresented populations in the live entertainment industry with one-on-one mentoring from professionals with similar backgrounds and career paths.
By establishing these personal connections, the program aims to maximize each mentee’s experience and break barriers so that participants can flourish.
Since launching in 2014 with only three mentees, the Gateway Program has quadrupled in size and diversity, creating a robust environment for networking. All Gateway mentees will receive full support to attend USITT19 in Louisville, KY.
“People leave with skills around professional networking and building their professional materials,” said Gateway coordinator Madilynn Garcia. “They come out with more than what they had to begin with, which is part of the success of this program.”
Gateway participants along with their mentors will take part in special receptions and sessions on diversity and inclusion in the live entertainment and production industry intermittently during their mentorship experience.
Become a part of the Gateway family and grow your network by applying or securing a nominator.
Applications for the Gateway program open Sept. 3.
