USITT’S Teaching Archive is a resource for teachers, mentors, instructors, and professors in the theatre industry. Divided by area of specialty, it is an “interactive repository” of syllabi, rubrics, assignments, and “teaching ideas” for educators in the technical theatre, design, and arts management fields.

The resource will receive an expansion which will be unveiled at USITT19, including more “teaching Ideas” and syllabi for educators to review (and borrow) but will also become an opportunity for those looking to get their ideas and projects published — especially for those looking to expand their tenure or promotion dossiers.

USITT’S Teaching Archive interprets the areas of architecture, costumes, education, engineering, lighting, management, safety and health, scenic, sound, and tech production.

Anyone can submit a teaching idea, syllabus, or rubric. Teaching idea entries will be reviewed by a set of “jurors.” Once the idea is reviewed and approved, it will be published on the page for other educators to view and use. Submission of syllabi and rubrics do not require review or approval and get posted right away. All submissions will be anonymous unless you state otherwise.

Next March, at the Annual Conference & Stage Expo, we will be hosting a panel where several contributors to the site will be presenting their work. The due date for submissions is September 30. Click here to submit.

Visit the Teaching Archive’s website to see what it’s all about. Feel free to explore, utilize the resources, and drop any of the editors a note with any questions you might have. If you are interested in submitting an idea or syllabus or would like to become an area reviewer (or “juror”), please do not hesitate to contact the respective associate editor. If you would like to become an associate editor for an area that currently does not have an associate editor, please contact Christopher Plummer. I hope you can assist us in making this site a valuable and beneficial tool for educators of all levels. Thank you in advance for your contributions and interest.
